Founder's Daily Briefing
The wheels come off a 10-year relationship...
So, Day #03 of this very unconventional experiment: sending my trusted co-host Kate off around the world for 30 days.
Around the world for 30 days that is... with nothing but a friend with an iPhone and a bunch of our products.
I have to say I’m very proud of how Kate – and the whole team – have thrown themselves into this. It’s like out of the blue we’re making a TV show - a travel TV show having never done it before.
It's 'non-trivial' to coordinate around 50,000 miles of travel (two people going around the globe). So far it’s all gone fairly smoothly… but let’s be honest, it’s only a matter of time before something happens to disrupt the best laid plans.
We’ll share lots of the things we learn as we go along but already they’ve learned (or re-learned) the hard way that packing everything ‘just in case’ makes life a lot harder than packing lite.
In their case Kate took an extra non-MAGFAST suitcase with her to carry her considerable just-in-case-in-my-suitcase overflow.
The case in question is an old one with hitherto ‘happy memories from college days’... but the new memories will not be nearly as sweet.
It has small, hard, cheaply-made wheels that have simply proved no match for this global obstacle course.
Rattly and noisy on hard surfaces and incredibly hard to roll on carpet, it only takes something as minor as that tiny gap as you get onto an elevator for everything to grind to a halt.
The small cheap wheel is noisy and rough on hard surfaces, gets bogged down in carpet. Heathrow's larger premium rubber-lined 360-degree ball-bearing spinner wheels glide over carpets and offer silent, smooooth-rolling on hard surfaces.
